HAPPINESS IN BARREN LAND

India is the third largest supplier of iron ore to China. The Ramandurga hills, in Bellary district from south India, is estimated to contain more than 1.2 billion tones of iron ore, and 12,000, these "float ore" mines - so called because workers dig by hand for small quantities of iron ore that "float" near the surface.

Every mining season -- the arid months from November until the monsoon -- families in thousands, many of them landless, migrate from nearest districts and states, in search of work in mining belt.
Each and every family with their children here, migrants from the starving countryside around the iron ore belt, toil with the implements of digging, shoveling, and sifting the red earth for iron ore lumps.

There is a high drop out rate of children from schools in this belt as they have been sucked into processing and marketing are equally responsible for the existence of child labour. Every year thousands of children are force by their families, using for their helpful works in mine field.

During the summer season, in the mining area, some of the Non Government Organization groups are collecting the child labours and school drop out children from these mining belts and conducting the special summer camp schools.
Every day the children enjoying with the every day camp activities of painting, playing, puzzle solving, acting, story telling, etc... and the summer camp are useful to refreshing and retouching their vanished academic and creative knowledge.
